Disposing of a Spell

So I have had many people ask me, “ How do you dispose of a spell once its done? “

There are several answers to this, as well as just listening in to what you feel is right, but in this blog we will go over a few ways to dispose of your spell and why. I don’t believe that all spells should be disposed of the same as there are many different workings of spells. Perhaps you are doing a releasing or banishing spell, perhaps a love spell or manifestation spell, all of which I find to have very different reasons for their disposals.

We will start with RELEASING/BANISHING SPELLS because in my opinion, overall, this is quite simple….

Feel free to just THROW IT OUT. You are releasing it after all and wanting it as from you as possible. There doesn’t always have to be this complex and long-winded way of ridding it. Often, the way we hold on to those kinds of spells can really set the tone for just how much you are actually wanting to rid this from your life. Now, you are more than welcomed to take a burned paper release and flush it down the toilet if that has a greater significance (sometimes we have to put the shit where it belongs), you can take any natural items to the stream and let it flow away from you (this is also acceptable) but if you just feel called, take it to the trash and say some choice words and allow it to leave you.

LOVE SPELL DISPOSAL

With a love spell, self or partnership, you want to put more care into how you dispose of these items. Perhaps you can take the contents and add it to a satchel to keep under the bed depending on what it is. Otherwise, I suggest that you bury these in your garden if you own a home together ( for a partnership love working ), add the contents to a plant so you can watch the love grow if you don’t have an outdoor option and you can add it to water brewing it into a potion, strain and clean your doors and windowsills along with anything that you feel could bring more love to a space. For self love, I highly suggest self love ritual baths. Any natural ingredients (like herbs) can easily be given back to the earth by just spreading it into the grass.

MANIFESTATION SPELLS

Truth be told one of my favorite ways to do a manifestation spell is by scripting. Speak it as though it is already yours and have a journal special for these workings. It’s a beautiful way to look back one day and see just how far you have come. If you do not wish to hold on to these items, I highly suggest standing under a new moon or near a window and burning it, asking for the universe to see those manifestations through. These are also wonderful to add to your plants as you are able to watch these manifestations flourish through the growing of your plant, and why not have another house plant.

SPELL JARS

With these, many people say to bury them, and if you are on your own property and feel comfortable doing so, this up to you… but I do highly suggest you consider the environment here. Not everything is kind to give to the earth. I often suggest either adding it to a plant (if it is a positive intention) or dumping out the contents properly and reusing the jar if it is salvageable.

OVERALL…

Remember, much of our practice is highly intentional. How you dispose of your ingredients can be given the proper respect by saying some choice words while releasing/disposing of your spells. This can go either way, from wishing it a farewell and good riddance, to thanking it for the work it has brought to your life. It is also so important that however our workings are to be disposed that we are conscious of its effects on the environment as practicing witchcraft typically begins with having a deep respect for mother earth and all of our creatures within it.

If you have any questions on ingredients or specific workings and want to double check if you are unsure, feel free to press the chat with me button at the bottom of the screen where you will be redirected to my facebook messenger chat and I am more than happy to talk your through a proper disposal.

BLESSED BE.
