Healing with Venus Retrograde

A Love Letter I keep on my altar.

Oh no! A big, bad retrograde is here! Whatever shall I do?!

Sometimes a bit of humor is necessary … I care not to share fear mongered thoughts on any retrograde because, in turn, I find them to all be very helpful in their own right.

The truth is, we don’t fear retrograde, we fear the shadows it can bring to the light. Retrogrades are about reflection, rebalancing and personal growth and the planet they’re in is symbolic to what subjects will naturally come to the surface.

We are going to talk about Venus Retrograde, which started on March 1st and will continue until April 12, illuminating our relationships, our values, and what brings us true joy. 

Planetary Placements + their Symbolism 

This Retrograde begins in the sign of Aries, where energy shifts into self-reflection, independence and courage while also being aligned with Mars energy as it is Aries planetary ruler. Mars is a planet of passion, action and individuality, so as you can see there is a pattern of reflection on the relationship we hold with ourselves. 

On March 27th, Venus Retrograde will move into the sign of Pisces where the energy will soften and become more introspective. Pisces is a sign of empathy, spirituality and deep, universal love; ruled by Neptune, the celestial body that governs creativity and dreams, it is asking us to dive deeper into what brings us true joy in our lives.

How to Heal with this Energy 

When we look at the themes surrounding this retrograde, I think it’s easy to notice a theme around LOVE. 

Self-love, the relationships we keep that love us back, and what we love within our lives. 

Pay attention to what keeps coming to the surface. 

Are you reflecting on past relationships with unfortunate endings? Are you constantly questioning your value? Are you looking around and wondering what in your life is truly bringing joy to your authentic self? And are you holding on to relationships that are no longer aligning with who you wish to be? 

And maybe, you are feeling this all combined into one and feeling overwhelmed….

This is not only normal, but an important time to get down to where you feel misled by others, yourself and the parts of your life that you created out of survival vs. passion.

Self care will be an essential way to re-establish your value, as it makes time for you to give yourself the love that you may feel you are lacking outside of yourself.  This can look like bubble baths, buying yourself flowers, giving yourself more time to do what your heart wants and creating new boundaries. (Remember, “no” is a full sentence.) 

But the true question is, do YOU feel you deserve all of that self-love?

This is where the shadows of retrograde must be respected, seen and honored. 

It’s time to get down to why you feel like you’re not worthy of that love.

-Who or what made you decide that you weren’t good enough to receive love?  

-Have you held yourself accountable for the reaction created by outside influence? 

-How are you taking steps to heal the parts of you that have been broken by past relationships? 

-Why do you feel you can’t live an authentic life? And how do you plan on taking that power back? 

This is just a small portion on the questions that you must ask yourself. I suggest using free tools like Pinterest journal prompts that speak to your story to help pull out the big feelings that you may be avoiding on your own.

Next, I dare you to start writing and leaving love letters and/or words of affirmations out for yourself. Push yourself to find what you love ABOUT YOU. Give yourself gratitude for all that you have accomplished, all you have overcome and all that you are. Once you start looking for positives and reinforcing them into your daily life, you will start to find more reasons to give yourself the love that you deserve.

Now, Embody the version of yourself that is already sure that you are not only worthy of love, but MADE OF LOVE. Stepping into a new timeline can bring you out of the old versions that aren’t serving you any longer. 

I will attach a journal prompt that I found very useful when I stepped into my recreation. It helped me look forward to the woman I knew I could become and start showing up as her. 

Envisioning and embodiment are crucial steps towards {the becoming}.

And once you start showing up for yourself, not only will you find more ways to shower yourself with your authentic love, but the universe will start presenting you with more love. It doesn’t always come as people, but it can come as new opportunities, new passions, glowing confidence and a new bad ass take on life that can create new bonds if that is what you are looking for. 

The way we love ourselves is a direct guideline to how the universe sends us love

Sharing my gratitude for Retrogrades 

Call me crazy, but once I got down to the deep truth of retrograde seasons, it became much easier to prepare for them. 

I once had a relationship with escapism and recognizing that and creating new patterns that allowed me to handle my emotions in real time was truly life changing. Retrograde, and astrology as a whole, has taught me that I am not alone and these big emotions are coursing through many of us, just with different journeys. 

Once we look into the why and begin to prepare ourselves for what is bound to come from the stars we can have a new relationship with ourselves and a deeper understanding of how we want to show up for ourselves and the people around us. For this, I am eternally grateful.

It has created a new relationship for myself in this wild universe and now I can share that with you. Hope that this helps guide you through Venus Retrograde and look forward to talking about more planetary retrogrades in the future.
